If you have a real Christmas tree, check out your options for recycling it in the district:
If you have a garden waste subscription, put your real tree out, either chopped up in the bin or whole, placed alongside the bin, on your garden waste collection day. Please make sure your bin is out too, even if it’s empty. And don’t forget to remove your decorations!
Farleigh Hospice collections: Register your tree and make a donation to this brilliant local charity before 4pm on Wednesday 8 January and it will be collected for recycling on the 10, 11 or 12 January 2025.
Halstead Young Farmers are offering a tree collection in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity for a £5 minimum donation. Collection will be on Sunday 12 January within an eight-mile radius of Halstead - to book visit https://www.ticketebo.co.uk/halstead-young-farmers-club
If you buy your tree from Olivers Plants in Earls Colne, they are offering FREE collection when you subscribe to their newsletter. These will be chipped and used on their land.
If you’re lucky enough to have a garden and a compost heap or bin, you can chop the tree up yourself and add it.
If you don’t have a garden, you can take your real tree to your nearest recycling centre to be composted. You will need to make a booking.
