NOTICES

Steeple Bumpstead has numerous footpaths that can be easily accessed from the village at various points. All will take you on an adventure through the local countryside and there are some fabulous views to be found of the village that nestles in the lovely Stour Valley.

For those who just want to take a gentle stroll to stretch their legs or walk the dog to ramblers who take it more seriously then, there are many routes to suit all. One of the most popular is the circular walk. This first takes you north towards Helions Bumpstead before swinging clockwise around the village through Garlands Farm and the outskirts of Moynes Park before returning you back to the village on the west side at the top of Bower Hall Drive. (Distance – 4.5 miles. Time – 2.0 hours). If you are interested in this walk, then click the ‘WALKING ROUTES’ button on the right and this will bring up a map showing the route.

The links on the side bar take you to various maps and interesting guides along with some suggested walking routes and the country code.
Those who would like to know a bit more about the village and its history then click on the ‘GUIDE’ and ‘VILLAGE STREET MAP’ buttons which will take you to lots of interesting information on this wonderful rural community and its historical buildings.
As you walk around the country paths, please ensure you follow the country code (see link). Remember to plan ahead and have the correct footwear, follow the signs and stay on the marked paths, keep your dogs under control and clean up after them. Finally, please take your litter home with you.

If you come across anything on the footpath network that needs attention such as broken posts/footbridges or blocked pathways etc. then please let us know by clicking on the ‘REPORT AN ISSUE‘ button.
For those who are new to Bumpstead and villagers who want to start exploring the local countryside then the main access points to the footpath network are as shown on the map opposite.

The others are mainly on the southside. One is where Queen Edith Drive meets Bower Hall Drive (C) that takes you to Smiths Green/Hempstead Wood. The other 2 lead to Moynes Park and Birdbrook. The first is in Finchingfield Road on the left-hand side as you leave the village just past the cemetery (D). The other is at the junction of Chapel Street, Blois Road & Claywall Bridg (E).

Finally, the last one can be found down the Endway and this takes you east along the Bumpstead Brook to Broad Green (F).
